Former “ER” cast mate Ming-Na Wen will join Clark Gregg in Joss Whedon’s “S.H.I.E.L.D.” adventure television show.
Set in the same universe as the blockbuster “Avengers” universe, “Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.” will be set before the events in “Phase One,” and will find Gregg reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson from the standalone Marvel films. Ming-Na takes on the freshly conceived role of Agent Melinda May. She’s a combat veteran, ace pilot and weapons expert who still harbors deep psychological scars from her experiences in battle.
The casting breakdown we reported on a month ago revealed five key characters that are planned for the series, the role was pseudo-named Althea Rice. Neither Rice nor May exists in Marvel’s comic book universe. Additional details on the pilot remain under wraps. But what we do know is that Joss Whedon will direct and co-write the project with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, and we cannot wait to see how this all comes together.
Now go and watch that “Iron Man 3” trailer and get excited!
