Viewers will be able to feast their eyes on Morris Chestnut for a little while longer. The famed actor’s hit series Rosewood received the green light for a second season, Variety reports.
The Fox program, which aired this fall ahead of the network’s hit Empire, was welcomed with rave reviews and an increasing audience. In a previous interview, The Best Man actor spoke with VIBE on jumping at the opportunity to play the title role.
“It was the title character of the show that peaked my interest, and even when I read the first scene I said, ‘Wow this is a character that I definitely want to play,” Chestnut said. “I jumped at the chance.”
The show, which follows the life of a Miami pathologist, arrived after a slew of new programs fought for the primetime slot.
In a statement, Fox entertainment president David Madden praised the success of the series. “’Rosewood’ has proven to be a real self-starter for us, which is a tremendous feat on this highly competitive night. Todd Harthan, Morris, Jaina, Lorraine and the entire cast and crew have done a fantastic job creating a gorgeous, sexy world that is the perfect complement to ‘Empire’,” he said. “The upcoming episodes are so compelling as we build out the family dynamics, and with today’s order, we’re excited to explore the world of ‘Rosewood’ even further this season.”
