We thought we’d never see the day when MTV would return to its roots and actually play music videos on the cable network’s original channel. However, in the wake of Prince’s untimely death, MTV has decided to honor the late musician by scrapping its programming and replacing it with a Prince music video marathon.
According to CNN Money, at about 2pm today (April 21) shortly after MTV reported on Prince’s passing, the company changed its logo to purple, and began their Prince music video marathon.
Although MTV announced a plan to bring back music-related programming, the tribute, which was done in 2009 for Michael Jackson and 2012 for Whitney Houston, was beyond fitting.
Good looks, MTV.
