Michael Bay and the team putting together Transformers 4 may have let this bit of plot slip through the cracks, but it doesn’t drop any whopping spoilers.
Michigan Film Office’s announcement that Bay and Optimus Prime are planning their fourth outing in the state is intriguing. It’s tough to keep secrets from leaking, especially when dealing with big films, but since Detroit has served as a filming location for both the first film and Dark Of The Moon it’s not surprising someone gave up the goods.
The new outing for Optimus Prime and the Autobots, joined by new human co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Jack Reynor, are returning to the D “as humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon“.
Apparently, the Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. The Michigan announcement continues, saying, “However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessmen and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control — all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs.”
Bay himself has previously mentioned how the story will now play out, saying, “Transformers 4 is not a reboot. This movie takes place exactly four years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different than the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.”
So, with that being all that we know for now, our hope is that the Bayhem doesn’t include any Sambots. The filmmaker’s latest, Pain And Gain, which also stars Wahlberg and features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is out August 28.
