To the surprise of no one, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un is not pleased with Seth Rogen and James Franco.
For the comedian tandem’s latest venture The Interview, the actors have only one goal: to kill Kim Jong-Un. Though their initial goal was to land the Asian dictator for an interview on their tabloid TV show called Skylark Tonight, they eventually get recruited by the CIA for Operation Assassination.
Now. Korean officials have caught wind of the flick and needless to say, they are not pleased.
Executive Director of the Centre for North Korea-U.S. Peace, Kim Myong-chol, reportedly told The Telegraph, “There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the U.S. government and American society. A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine.”
He added, “And let us not forget who killed [President John F.] Kennedy – Americans. In fact, President Obama should be careful in case the US military wants to kill him as well.”
Rogen and Franco are known to push buttons. Last November, they produced a parody of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” music video, which they claimed the rapper “loved.”
The Interview hits theaters this October.
