The Pied Piper of R&B wants to bring his hilarious “Trapped in the Closet” to Broadway. Details after the jump.
The Grammy award winning singer announced Monday night that he’s had an offer to bring the characters and plotlines from his wildly popular video opera to the Great White Way, and he may even be featured in some performances.
“To transform it into a Broadway version, that’s what I’m working on,” he told a packed house at the Sunshine Theater, where he unveiled the latest chapters in “Trapped in the Closet,” which will make its debut on the IFC channel this Friday.
The stirring series got its start in 2005, which ended with a cliffhanger. Since then, the songs have went on to capture so much attention that R. Kelly made an over-the-top video series that just got crazier and crazier as he added more chapters. To date, the singer-songwriter claims to have 85 chapters in the can.
Will the series be a rousing success? Or will R. Kelly find just how brutal the critics in New York really are? Leave your thoughts below.
