Looks like Raven Symone is saying sayonara to her gig over at The View. On Thursday (Oct. 27) the outspoken co-host announced she’ll be leaving the daytime talk show by the end of the year to work on a spinoff of That’s So Raven.
The soon-to-be 31 year old will move to LA to act as star and executive producer of the show. The original That’s So Raven ran from 2003 to 2007 on the Disney channel, and the spinoff will live there as well when she picks back up the role as psychic Raven Baxter.
The View has had a revolving door of co-hosts over the years, so it’s unlikely her departure will be replaced. Throughout Symone’s tenure on The View, the outspoken talking head has received the ire of the Internet for a plethora of what many assumed were out-of-touch comments surrounding race.
On the untitled That’s So Raven spinoff, Symone will play a divorced mom of two pre-teens with one of her children inheriting her ability to see into the future. Adam Bonnett, executive vice president of original programming for Disney Channels Worldwide is thrilled to have Symone on board to reprise her role.
“Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world. Her performance in ‘That’s So Raven’ is timeless. We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we’re looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family.”
