Reginae Carter, the oldest daughter of rap juggernaut Lil’ Wayne, is continuing to step outside the shadow of her famous father as she plans to add acting to her resume.
On Monday (Nov. 5), Deadline reported that Lifetime would be producing a TV movie adaption of Jane Austen’s 19th-century classic that will be titled: Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta. The 2019-set project is set to stand apart as it will take place in modern times with an all-black cast.
Taking place in a church-based setting in Georgia, the film will also star Jackee Harry, Keshia Knight-Pulliam, Victoria Rowell (The Young & the Restless) and Reginald VelJohnson (Family Matters). Famous author Terry McMillian, whose novels Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back was turned into films, will write and executive producing the film.
Legendary comic and actress Jackee Harry will play preacher’s wife Mrs. Bennet, a self-help author advising ladies on finding the perfect husband. Mrs. Bennet is less than happy all her five daughters are without a beau. Carter, 19, will reportedly play her boy-crazy daughter Lydia.
Reginae’s foray into acting was made public last month when she told her mother, reality TV star and author Toya Wright, she no longer has an interest in attending college and would rather chase her dream, much to her mom’s dismay.
