Last summer The Avengers took in more than a billion dollars worldwide at the box office. Comic books come back to life, along with iconic TV shows and books, with the majority of summer’s blockbusters taking on the past’s imagination.
Superman flies again in Man of Steel. Iron Man returns to save the world for the third time. Leonardo DiCaprio takes on the iconic role of The Great Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the classic novel. Johnny Depp joins the Lone Ranger‘s crusade, while Star Trek returns to deep space this summer.
Adaptations aside, Will Smith and son Jayden re-team for M. Night Shyamalan’s post-apocolyptic After Earth, while Craig Robinson gets the role of a lifetime aside beauty and VIBE’s December ’12/January ’13 cover girl Kerry Washington in Tyler Perry’s The Peeples. Feel the need for speed? Things go full throttle for the sixth (wow!) Fast and Furious film.
