
The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards are a little less than three weeks away and its just been announced Rihanna will take home the night’s top honor, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Previous recipients include Beyonce and Kanye West, who announced he would run for president of the United States in 2020. Rihanna’s 2016 has been chock full of wins. With the release of her eighth studio album Anti and her world tour, the Video Vanguard award for Bad Gyal Rih is right on time since she just celebrated 10 years in the music industry.

Along with the prestigious honor Rihanna garnered four nominations Best Female Video for “Work,” featuring Drake and Best Male Video for her contributions to Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For” and two in the Best Collaboration category for the songs previously mentioned.
Rihanna and her fine self will grace the VMA stage Sunday, August 28 at 9pm.
