Robert De Niro and his wife Grace Hightower have called it quits after more than 20 years of marriage, according to People. The two have reportedly separated and are living in different residences.
De Niro reportedly met Hightower when she was working at the famed restaurant Mr. Chow in London in 1987. She later held minor roles in movies like Precious (2009) and The Paperboy (2012).
The two married in 1997 after dating for nearly a decade.
The couple reportedly split in 1999 after De Niro filed for a divorce. They reportedly fought over the custody of their son at the time, but eventually made peace and called off the divorce.
They renewed their wedding vows in 2004 at a ceremony in the Catskills, which welcomed celebrity guests including Meryl Streep, Martin Scorsese, and more.
The two were last seen on the red carpet at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards in June 2018. While the actor has remained hushed about his private life, he has been in the headlines in regards to politics. Shortly after reports claimed De Niro was a target in a series of bomb threats, the actor took jabs at Trump and urged people to vote for change in the midterm elections.
De Niro and Hightower have two children together. The Goodfellas actor has four other children from his past relationships.
According to sources from Page Six, the couple may be gearing up to announce their split publicly in the coming weeks.
