Audience reaction to an early screening of Man of Steel has added a bit of weight to this super-powered rumor.
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have a lot riding on the Zack Snyder-directed, Henry Cavill-starring Superman reboot. The picture is serving as the lead-in for other DC characters with the attempt to rival Marvel’s Avengers film series by bringing the Justice League of America to the big screen.
While there has been some recent worries over the script for the Justice League film, a new rumor from the reliable folks at Latino Review may just bode positively well for fans of DC Comics.
Latino Review is reporting that Christopher Nolan (executive producer, Man of Steel) is going to take over the DC character universe at Warner Bros. The move will give him the final approval in anything that is to be done for the cineplexes. The rumor also goes on to say that Zack Snyder would serve as a producer and possible director for the Justice League flick.
The biggest punch delivered by this rumor is the possible return of Christian Bale as Batman. Many wondered aloud (including us) who would don the cape-and-cowl to become the Dark Knight, but if this rumor is true, it could mean that Warner Bros. and DC Comics have finally been hearing the fanboys point-of-view. Bale was even quoted in an interview saying that he would love the challenge of making a fourth movie if Nolan came to him with a script and a story to tell.
Of course, none of this is even closed to being confirmed at this point. But it does make sense since Warner Bros. should definitely want a comparable and competitive franchise to go against Disney’s The Avengers.
We’ll have to wait and see if this is true… but what do YOU think? Is Christian Bale going to be the Robert Downey Jr. of DC? Does having Bale alongside other superheroes in a big blockbuster picture come off as odd?
