While Donald Trump continues to be the Republican frontrunner, the biggest story this week has been his not so steadfast deflection of an endorsement from Klu Klux Klan grand wizard David Durke. Yet, despite not fully lambasting Burke, the real estate tycoon turned potential presidential candidate has continued to win support in Kentucky and Louisiana.
The writers and cast at Saturday Night Live have taken note of Trump’s tactics and created a mock ad using a lot of Trump’s campaign rhetoric such as “Trump can make America great again” or that “Trump is an outsider and Washington needs that.”
The skit, which feature cast members Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant and Bobby Moynihan, showed “real Americans” doing “real things,” only for the viewer to later realize these “real Americans” were racists. Bayer’s character was initially seen ironing only for audience members to learn she was ironing her Klansmen robe.
The video has garnered more than 230,000 shares on Facebook with passionate comments from both the left and the right wing.
