The first couple, who have been married for more than 20 years, will now be the subject of a new romantic dramedy, Southside with You. Photos from the set depicting Barack and Michelle Obama’s first date surfaced online on Tuesday (July 14).

Tika Sumpter stars as the young First Lady and Parker Sawyer plays President Obama. For the couple’s first date, Barack tried his best to impress his future wife and took her to get ice cream and see Do The Right directed by Spike Lee, who at the time was an unknown filmmaker.
During Barack’s campaign for re-election in 2012, the couple often spoke about their first date. Making sure to leave a lasting impression, Obama ended the evening by kissing Michelle outside of the ice cream parlor.
So cute.

The couple dated for three years and then tied the knot October, 3, 1992. Southside With You is written and directed by Richard Tanne. The film is currently in production.
