We’ve got some good news for Spidey fans: Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking Spider-Man back from Sony. The news broke last night (Feb. 9) and while we’re all excited for what MCU’s master plan is, we’re kind of sad to see Andrew Garfield go. There will be a whole new cast for the upcoming Spider-Man movies, TheWrap‘s reporter, Linda Ge, confirmed it in a tweet stating, “CONFIRMED: Andrew Garfield is NO LONGER Spider-Man. Someone new will be cast. First appearance in MCU, then solo film.”

But it’s not like Garfield doesn’t have any other work lined up. In fact, when the news broke he was abroad filming the Martin Scorsese movie, Silence, where he will play a Jesuit priest in the 17th century Japan. Now what does this mean for Spidey? Who will be the webbed superhero and what is going to happen to Sony’s Sinister Six, which is the super-villain Spider-Man oppositional team-up? Does this mean that MCU will take over the anticipated Sinister Six movie? So many questions yet to be answered, but Ge has made a suggestion. “Now, wouldn’t Miles Morales be a good way to avoid to the awkward recasting scenario?” she asked.
