Spike Lee is spreading love the Brooklyn way by announcing there will be an open call for his Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It. The prolific director took to Instagram Sunday (Oct. 2) to announce the date and location of the auditions.
Lee made his directorial debut 30 years ago with the introduction of Nola Darling in She’s Gotta Have It. The film centers around Darling’s affairs with the polite Jamie Overstreet, the narcissistic Greer Childs and Lee’s character, the immature Mars Blackmon. The film depicted a sexually liberated Darling living in Brooklyn during a time when women’s sexual agency wasn’t a topic deeply explored.
A date for the Netflix premiere hasn’t been announced, but rest assured all of Brooklyn is ready.
