Taraji P. Henson is going where no woman has gone before: into the minds and thought processes of men everywhere. Henson is the star of the upcoming comedy What Men Want, which is a gender-flipped remake of the 2000 success What Women Want.
In the new trailer, which was released on Tuesday (Aug. 14), Henson plays Ali Davis a high-powered executive, who is having a hard time breaking the glass ceiling at her company. After being passed for a promotion, she visits a spiritual guru – appropriately played by none other than Erykah Badu – who gives her a mystical tea.
The next morning, Ali realizes she has the gift (or curse) of reading the mind’s of every man she comes in contact with, including their stupid, misogynistic, and way too personal thoughts. But once she gets past the ugly, she may be able to use her new powers to outsmart her colleagues. Tracy Morgan and Shaquille O’Neal also star in the film.
As previously noted, the original film, What Women Want debuted in theaters in 2000, starring Mel Gibson. Step Up’s Adam Shankman will direct the upcoming film. What Men Want hits theaters on Jan. 11, 2019.
