Taraji P. Henson is hitting the road promoting her latest film Proud Mary. The Academy-Award nominated actress plays Mary, a cold-hearted assassin who as a young girl was pulled into a world of fast cars, guns and violence by a crime boss and her perceived father figure Benny Spencer, played by Danny Glover.
In the Babak Najafi directed film Mary goes on a hit as ordered, and unintentionally orphans a little boy named Danny. (Jahi Di’ Allo Winston) From there, viewers follow Mary as she tries to forge a new life away from the only family she’s ever known.
Henson chatted with VIBE.com about the film, and said Proud Mary is more than just a movie about guns and violence. Mary is a woman who is daring to break away from the only world she knows, in hopes to live her own life by her own terms.
