Taye Diggs received the ire of the Internet Wednesday (November 18) when word got out the the actor would prefer his biracial son not having to identify with one race over the other
During an interview with The Grio, the Rosewood actor promoted his newest children’s book “Mixed Me,” and similarly to his first kid’s book “Chocolate Me,” Diggs says his latest literary venture is about a fictional child learning to disregard the comments and critiques of others.
“My son is half black, half white and just by watching him growing up, listening to other biracial–or how you want to term these beautiful people–their experiences, their accounts what it’s like coming from a blended relationship. “Mixed Me” It’s another book of self love, self appreciation and knowing that you are special regardless of what people say about you because people will always say stuff.”
When asked how important it is to Diggs that his son Walker, not claim one race and disregard the other, The Best Man actor said not having to choose is a major hope for his son.
“I think when you do, you risk disrespecting that one half of who you are …I don’t want my son to be in a situation where he calls himself black, and then everybody thinks he has a black mom and a black dad and then when they see he has a white mother, they’re wondering what’s going on? Are you ashamed of your white?”
Yet despite his explanation, Diggs received much judgment from the Internet about his parenting skills.
Taye Diggs is trying to have his son get some kind of upper hand in life. He ain’t procreate w a white woman for his kid to be just black.

Brothas like Taye Diggs, think if they mate with a white woman, they can flush out the blackness. It’s not that easy https://t.co/Pe5yQt74kH
