It was announced Tuesday (Oct. 13) that Taye Diggs will be added as a recurring character on FOX’s new series Rosewood in a multiple episode arc beginning in November,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A casting announcement for the show said that Diggs will be portraying Dr. Mike Boyce, “a world-renowned infectious disease doctor based in Miami and the longtime best friend of Dr. Beaumont Rosewood (Morris Chestnut).” Dr. Boyce will also serve as the love interest of Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz).
Diggs, who just finished his run as the titular character in the Broadway show Hedwig and the Angry Itch, has worked alongside Chestnut in The Best Man and its sequel The Best Man Holiday, so there’s bound to be chemistry from these on-screen best friends. He’s no stranger to playing a doctor either- Diggs had a starring role in Shonda Rhimes’ Private Practice, a spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy. He was also recently seen in TNT’s Murder in the First and can be seen in the upcoming film, One Shot.
Rosewood airs Wednesday nights on FOX.
