Megan Kelly was in a world of trouble for her comments about not understanding the big deal about blackface on Halloween. Last month, the political pundit and host made her misguided comments during her show Megan Kelly Today.
Less than a week after the firestorm, she was removed from the 9 a.m. timeslot, and it looks like she really isn’t missed at all. Variety reports that since Kelly’s departure, the ratings for the NBC news show’s third hour have grown about 10 percent, per Nielsen.
“…In each of the last three weeks, overall audience for the flagship first two hours of the NBC A.M. mainstay has been larger than that for its main rival, ABC’s “Good Morning America,” the publication writes.
In Megan Kelly Today’s last week, she had about 2.52 million viewers over all. Nielsen reports that last week, the third hour of Today had 2.63 million viewers.
“The third hour is now hosted by a rotating group of ‘Today’ anchors, and saw its overall viewership rise 5% in the first week after Kelly’s departure,” Variety continues. “Craig Melvin, Jenna Bush Hager and Al Roker have played larger roles in the revamped time period.”
