Paramount announced last year that the Transformers franchise would be adding three more feature films to its installment, and now the film conglomerate has dated Transformers 5, 6, and 7 for back-to-back-to-back, summer releases beginning in 2017.
Transformers 5 will premiere on June 23, 2017, with a quick turn around to Transformers 6 only a year later on June 8, 2018. The final installment of the Transformers series will release on June 28, 2019, The Wrap reports.
From the series’ launch in 2007, Transformers has followed a number of different directions, switching protagonists, leading ladies, and writers. Michael Bay, who directed the first four films, is set to direct the fifth installment, but will not return thereafter. While fans began following Shia LaBeouf’s epic fight against the generation of robotic vehicles, the main role picked up Mark Wahlberg, who started in the fourth installment. Wahlberg is also rumored to star in the next film.
Transformers 5 may not be hitting theaters until 2017, but fans can start preparing for the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron to continue for three more years.
