Tyler Perry ‘s Madea Franchise has resonated with its diverse audience with films exploring poverty, race, sexual assault, love and more. But late last month (Oct. 29), Tyler Perry announced that he would be bringing the Madea Franchise to the halt with a final movie. But before Perry leaves he would like to give Madea fans a proper goodbye with a stage play called the Madea’s Farewell Play Tour.
Tickets go on sale Friday (Nov. 16), with the west coast leg of the tour kicking off in Oakland, Calif. on Jan. 18 and end in Las Vegas on Jan. 27. For now, the tour only takes place in California, Nevada, and Arizona but more dates are soon to come. The tour will reportedly run for three additional months.
Marking the 49-year-olds 21st stage play as the Atlanta Grandma, the show will star the original cast made up of Tamela Mann, David Mann, and Cassi Davis. Shortly before the tour wraps, the writer and producer will be leaving the legendary character behind him with his final Madea project, Madea’s Family Funeral set to hit theaters March 1.
Though the film series may be gone, its impact is likely to never be forgotten.
