After racing the first full trailer to Ron Howard’s Rush past the finish line, we’re ecstatic to show you just what went into whipping the Formula One cars in this new clip.
“The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel,” is the tagline to this powerful project from StudioCanal. We’ve been anticipating this film since early behind-the-scenes footage and photos leaked onto the web last year, but now we get to watch actor Chris Hemsworth learn just what goes into racing these intense machines.
Directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code), the film follows the rivalry between real life drivers Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth). Hunt, a hard-partying, sex crazed British racer, battles for the 1976 world championship against his more disciplined Austrian adversary Niki Lauda.
With the script written by Peter Morgan, whose previous screenplays include The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The Last King Of Scotland, this film has very powerful dialogue. Howard himself shot scenes at several real-life motor racing circuits, including Brands Hatch in Kent, Snetterton in Norfolk, Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire and the famous Nürburgring in Germany.
