This is not an attack on your eyeballs. This is an awaking of your spirit. The first Thor: The Dark World clip has hit the web today and, wow, you need to see it to believe.
Place your Iron Man 3 anticipation on hold and take a look at this wonderful first offering from Marvel. In Thor: The Dark World, much like the Tony Stark-starring adventure, the latest chapter in the Norse god’s life finds the blond Asgardian (Chris Hemsworth) in the thick of it all as a new enemy approaches his borders. Reunited with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Thor is tasked with the duty to fight the threat of Malekith the Accursed, who are threatening Earth with total darkness.
New director Alan Taylor, who inherited the gig from Kenneth Branagh, aims to keep fans in their seats by going with the dark theme — a skill he most likely honed from his previous gigs directing episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones, Deadwood and AMC’s Mad Men.

As ominous as the clip may be, this shadowy turn is looking like an upside for the god of thunder. While Tony Stark has his own dark moments, audiences will finally get to see how vast Asgard truly is. From the moment Thor whisks his Earthbound beauty into a “separate world” to the moment he consults with his incarcerated brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) for help, the clip is jammed pack with just enough tease to keep the heart aflutter. It’s a really good thing that this film is coming out this year — hitting theaters Nov. 8 — because Thor: The Dark World looks like it’ll be a great offering to experience six months after Iron Man 3.
