Marshmallows around the world rejoiced as the official Veronica Mars movie trailer finally hit the web.
Fans took to crowd-funding website, Kickstarter, to ensure that this movie was made. Now, with the project done and completed, Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) returns to save the day — and her former beau — from salacious accusations.
Series creator Rob Thomas wrote the movie, saying to fans in a statement, “This project has been a labor of love for everyone involved—me, the cast, my producing partners. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from the Kickstarter backers. This movie wouldn’t have happened without them.”
The UPN and WB aired series lasted three seasons on television, but the Kickstarter to fund the movie was launched in February 2013. After reaching its goal of $2 million in 10 hours, the campaign has since grossed more than $5.7 million.

Mars, now a high-powered New York attorney with a happy life, looks like she’s willing to throw it all away for love. The snarky sleuth’s return just so happens to coincide with her 10-year high school reunion. Which should find fans cajoling over their favorite friends and foes returning to the big screen.
The highly-anticipated and Kickstarter-supported film should hit select markets across the U.S. on Friday, March 14.
In addition to Bell, most of the principal Veronica Mars series cast is slated to return for the movie. Krysten Ritter, Ryan Hansen, Tina Majorino, Francis Capra, Ken Marino and Enrico Colantoni all reprised their roles for the film.
