The first promotional teaser for “White Girls in Hip-Hop,” an investigative documentary examining the current role race plays in the culture, was released to rave reviews. The film, which was curated by journalist Brittany “Bella” Graham,” featured poignant interviews with artists, cultural critics, and journalists ranging from Ben Westhoff (L.A. Weekly Music Editor) to Dr. Ebony Utley (author of “Rap & Religion: Understanding the Gangsta’s God) to Lil’ Debbie (rapper Kreayshawn’s friend and former “White Girl Mob” member).
After accomplishing the first phase of production, the filmmaker-slash-journalist is now enlisting the help of the general public to help complete the project about the evolution of race, society and Hip-Hop culture. “White Girls in Hip-Hop” is not meant to belittle anyone’s accomplishment, nor is it an attempt to convince viewers of any sort of opinion. Graham, contributor to The Well Versed, is an accomplished public speaker and hopes “White Girls in Hip-Hop” can be used as an educational tool in colleges and high schools across the United States.
