Will Packer, the executive producer behind blockbuster hit Girls Trip, has been green-lighted by OWN for two series to debut on the network. Characterized as a family drama and an unscripted dating series from a male perspective, Ambitions and Ready to Love, respectively, are reportedly slated to premiere in 2019.
Deadline reports Ambitions, produced for OWN by Will Packer Media, focuses on a woman going head-to-head with some shot-callers and scammers in a new city all while trying to revitalize her marriage. Ready To Love will be an unscripted series, focusing on successful men and women that have everything but love. Ready to Love begins production in Atlanta in the coming months, but productions for Ambitions will start later this year. The new series will join hit shows Queen Sugar, Greenleaf and The Have and the Have Nots.
“Partnering with OWN to bring Ambitions and Ready to Love to their fast-growing lineup of critically acclaimed series is a win-win scenario,” Will Packer, CEO and founder of Will Packer Media, said. “OWN has been on an incredible streak with its recent slate, and we’re looking forward to extending the network’s primetime success with these new shows created specifically with the OWN audience in mind.”
Packer also took to Twitter to thank Oprah for her platform.
It’s the work you put in when nobody is watching that makes everybody pay attention later. Thank you Queen @oprah for consistently giving voice and opportunity to those willing to put the work in. #GoTime pic.twitter.com/Rd4j325nnH
