Art collectors, meet the new Picasso, Yung Lenox.
The film showcases a then-seven Lenox—born Lenox Buringrud—as a hip hop artist and portraitist who has painted portraits of rappers like Raekwon, Cam’ron and Kool Keith. His work has been featured at the Frieze Art Fair last year and at his first solo exhibit in Los Angeles last May.
The 16-minute film was directed by Stacey Lee and Anthony Mathile and is currently screening at the festival.
But while the little artist is getting some well-deserved recognition for his artistic talents, everything in his world still stays the same. When asked what his favorite part of shooting the documentary for two days last year was, he adorably replied: “I got to eat doughnuts!”
