Alongside the significant difference the Black Lives Matter protests have made; there’s another movement going on in one of the cities hardest hit with homicide and violence: Baltimore, Md. called 300 Men March.

The organization is a grassroots group that recruits men and city youth to walk the streets of Baltimore, in efforts to make the rapid violence that inundates the city stop.
And on Sunday evening (Aug. 16), a group of more than 40 embarked on a 35-mile overnight journey to Washington. Back in July, the group took a shorter 10-mile walk across Baltimore. This time around, the group’s founder Munir Bahar, says this walk took four times the amount of time than the last. He estimates that the walk took about 20 hours and ended at 2 p.m.

“It’s symbolic of what we’re willing to do to address the violence in our city,” Bahar told The Baltimore Sun. “The solution is simple. We need to go above and beyond.” Reportedly, more than 200 people have been killed in Baltimore so far this year, with May and July having about 4o homicides each.
“It’s not going to be comfortable,” he continued. “It’s not going to be easy. It’s not going to be convenient. … As long as we have bodies dropping and young people killing each other, we need to do more.”
