This Friday (June 26), President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will head to South Carolina to deliver the eulogy for Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who died in last week’s Charleston church shooting.
Pinckney, the Emanuel A.M.E.’s senior pastor, was one of the nine victims in the shooting that took place during a bible study service. Obama had previously spoke about the tragedy, stating that he and wife Michelle Obama knew Pinckney and other church staffers personally.

“The fact that this took place in a Black church obviously also raises questions of about a dark part of our history,” Obama spoke of the racially-charged mass murder by 21-year-old Dylann Roof, whom most consider a terrorist.
Now, after an 8-year return to the South Carolina town, Obama will be present at the pastor’s funeral service to send his farewell alongside family, friends and community members.
