As the race for the White House continues, real estate tycoon turned Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has merited both loyal voters and the ire of many due to his controversial comments on immigration, Muslims, and women. However, President Barack Obama isn’t concerned with where Trump is in the polls because he doesn’t thinks Trump will make it to the White House.
“I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president,” Obama said Tuesday (February 16) during a press conference in Rancho Mirage, CA. “And the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people.”
Obama, who has a little under a year left in his term, has long criticized Trump’s scare tactics that he’s used on his campaign trail, but also took aim at the entire GOP field stating a lot of Trump’s sentiments are being echoed by other Republican candidates. Obama continued and said he thinks the American people understand the severity of being leader of the free world, and understand it requires more than what Trump has showcased.
“I think they recognize that being president is a serious job. It’s not hosting a talk show, or a reality show. It’s not promotion. It’s not marketing. It’s hard.”
