No one knows for certain if Kanye West is running for president in 2020. While the announcement at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards seemed sincere–despite his admission of being high–Mr. West has been known to say a lot of things.
President Barack Obama isn’t sure if ‘Ye is serious either. But in the event that he is, number 44 offered him some sound advice on how to secure the position as commander in chief, and simultaneously shaded GOP hopeful Donald Trump in the process.
“First of all, you’ve got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show. You’ve got to be cool with that. Second, saying that you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy? That’s what’s known as off-message in politics. You can’t say something like that.”
The crowd at the San Francisco Democratic National Committee was in full support of POTUS’ advice to Kanye, who was slated to perform music from his upcoming LP SWISH. But it was Obama’s final piece of guidance that got the crowd going.
“And number three, do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago [with a] funny name?”
Ha! We see what you did there, Mr. President.
