Barack Obama gifted his wife Michelle with a bouquet of flowers after surprising her during the Washington, D.C. stop of her book tour, Becoming. The former president was met with cheers and a few could be heard shouting “we miss you” as he graced the stage. Obama jokingly even compared his cameo appearance to his famous friend JAY-Z.
“This is like – you know when Jay-Z comes out during the Beyonce concert? … Like, “Crazy in Love?” he said.
Mrs. Obama has been traveling across the country promoting her memoir, which details growing up on Chicago’s South Side, attending Princeton and Harvard University, being a lawyer and of course, her time at the White House. Hosted by former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, the Former First Lady spoke about their life now and admitted she wished her husband was more vocal about the current administration.
“There are so many times where I just want him — like, I know, all of you – to just curse them out. Just say these things. And he’s like, ‘well, that’s not the point. You know, the president isn’t the president for his own ego. The president is the president for the entire country. So we have to be very mindful of what we say and how we say it.’ “
The newly minted author, whose book sold 725,000 copies in one day, also revealed that after spending eight years in office, the two have just now been able to reflect on the history they made.
“And I was able to do that with my husband just the other night. And just look at him and say, ‘man, man you did this. You did this. You did one of the hardest jobs on the planet.’ “
Michelle Obama’s next tour stop will be Nov. 29 at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
