In an effort to increase his outreach with the African-American community, Sen. Bernie Sanders is reportedly scheduled to visit a Baltimore Youth Center named after Freddie Gray, who’s death in police custody led to rioting in the city.
Sanders, who’s Senator of Vermont, which is 95% white has acknowledged the challenge he faces while trying to earn the black vote for the upcoming presidential race.
The 74-year-old Democratic presidential hopeful is said he will hold “an ecumenical round-table to discuss issues directly impacting the African-American community.” With Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant, pastor and founder of Empowerment Temple Church, to help lead the discussion.
Sen. Sanders’ visit will take place Tuesday, December 8.
