The NYPD hasn’t been a crowd favorite among many New Yorkers for quite sometime. Whether it be because of the 2014 killing of Eric Garner from Staten Island, or most recently, a uniformed U.S. Postal worker being arrested while on his postal route, there aren’t many who are fond of the boys in blue. One said person was Daniel Pena.
According to reports, the 23-year-old Bronx resident was stabbed at least twice in the chest Wednesday (May 11) in the courtyard of a building on Decatur Avenue near Bedford Park Boulevard. As officers arrived to the scene, they asked Pena to identify the person who attacked him.
“As he took his dying breath, his last words to police were, ‘F–k you,’ ” a law enforcement source said. It’s reported Pena lost consciousness and was then transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities are still searching for Pena’s killer.
