The man the FBI believes to be behind the New York and New Jersey bombings has been taken into custody after a shootout with police, CNN reports. Ahmad Khan Rahami was taken by an ambulance with a bloody and bandaged shoulder Monday afternoon (Sept. 19) after Linden, New Jersey police found the 28-year-old.
A shootout occurred between Rahami and police officers with one officers being shot in the hand, and the other shot in the vest. Early Monday morning, the FBI released a picture of Rahami and sent notifications to iPhone users warning them Rahami is armed and dangerous.

Rahami is a naturalized U.S. citizen, who’s last known address is in Elizabeth, N.J. Authorities raided his home, which is above his father’s restaurant First American Fried Chicken. Cops says Rahami is believed to be in connection with the bombing that took place Saturday night on West 23rd Street in Manhattan. About 29 people were treated for injuries related to the blast, but were all released from the hospital the next day.
Five explosive devises–including a pipe bomb–were found in backpack late Sunday night (Sept. 18) near the Amtrak and commuter train station in Elizabeth. A robot was used to deactivate the bomb that inadvertently went off. No one was harmed.
Patrons of Rahami’s father’s restaurant describe him as a loner.
“He would never talk to you. He would just take your order,” Joshua Sanchez, 24, told the New York Daily News. “I don’t know why, but I got a sense that he hated America. There was something weird about him. I never see him with friends. He was always very serious, no girlfriend, no nothing.”
