A Chicago man has been charged with misdemeanor battery and felony aggravated battery after he hit a woman and a bus driver with a bag of frozen chicken, CNN reports.
Caleb Russell became irate when he began flirting with a woman who didn’t return his advances. The 27 year old, who in 2014 was sentenced to two years in prison for threatening to blow up a transit bus, allegedly started hitting the woman with the bag of chicken. When the bus driver stopped the bus to intervene, Russell began to hit him as well. The driver is reported to have suffered a broken nose and jaw. He also lost a tooth.
Jeff Tolman, a spokesman for the Chicago Transit Authority, said attacks on transit workers are rare, but will be providing footage to help prosecute the assailant. The female victim, who chose to remain unidentified, claims to not have been seriously injured.
Russell is being held on $100,000 bond.
