Ex-Oklahoma City Officer Daniel Holtzclaw, who was convicted of raping more than a dozen black women, is now reportedly on suicide watch.
Last Thursday (December 10) Holtzclaw, who targeted women with a criminal background, drug addictions or sex workers, was found guilty on 18 of the 36 charges brought against him including first-degree rape, stalking, and forcible sodomy. That Friday, he was placed on suicide watch with a deputy or detention officer sitting outside of his cell.
During sentencing, which was coincidently Holtzclaw’s 29th birthday, was seen shaking, then sobbing as the judge read the 18 guilt verdicts. District Attorney David Prater told FOX 6 he has no intentions of asking for any sort of leniency.
“We’re going to ask the judge to make sure that this defendant never sees the light of day,” Prater said. “And we’re going to ask him to run consecutive, every count.”
Holtzclaw faces up to 263 years in prison.
