Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump stirred up more controversy when he proposed a ban on Muslims immigrating to the United States as well as visiting. The 69-year-old real estate tycoon was on the receiving end of social media wrath.
Yet during an interview Wednesday night (December 10) with CNN’s Don Lemon, Trump insists his comments went over just fine with his Muslim friends.
“Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me. They say, ‘Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.’ “
Trump even went as far to say he received the support of a well-known Muslim figure, one he couldn’t name, after suggesting the temporary ban. Trump also maintains that his friendships with his many Muslims are still in tact.
“I love the Middle East,” Trump said. “I love the people of the Middle East. I have many friends who are Muslims, they’re phenomenal people. They are so happy at what I’m doing.”
