
Greeleyville, South Carolina’s Mount Zion AME Church was destroyed by a fire Tuesday night (June 30), which added to a list of black churches in the south that have been set a blaze.

But now reports are stating that the destruction of the historic religious establishment was not caused by arson. The Associated Press spoke with a federal law enforcement official at the scene who states the fire was not purposely set, but an investigation into the exact cause of the inferno is still underway.

Social media has also been questioning the lack of coverage of these occurrences on mainstream news outlets.

The FBI is currently examining the recent string of black churches that have been terrorized in the south, but there have been no confirmed discoveries as to the primary cause of these acts.
