Greeleyville, South Carolina’s Mount Zion AME Church was destroyed by a fire Tuesday night (June 30), which added to a list of black churches in the south that have been set a blaze.
But now reports are stating that the destruction of the historic religious establishment was not caused by arson. The Associated Press spoke with a federal law enforcement official at the scene who states the fire was not purposely set, but an investigation into the exact cause of the inferno is still underway.
Social media has also been questioning the lack of coverage of these occurrences on mainstream news outlets.
What if there were a resurgence of terrorist attacks on American churches. Should 24news make time for that? #WhoIsBurningBlackChurches?

If a Starbucks or CVS burned to the ground, it would be breaking news. But Black churches? The media won’t even break a sweat.

Black churches are burning and the media remains silent. You had 24 hour coverage on a Quik Trip and a CVS though. We see you.

Mainstream media placed images of a burning CVS and QuikTrip all over the media in Bmore and Ferguson. Silent about 7 black churches burning

The FBI is currently examining the recent string of black churches that have been terrorized in the south, but there have been no confirmed discoveries as to the primary cause of these acts.
