A new development has surfaced in the death of Freddie Gray. According to the Baltimore Sun, Officer Caesar Goodson Jr., driver of the van that cased Gray and responsible for the “rough ride” that aided in his passing, was found not guilty on all charges.
Goodson, 46, faced a slew of grim charges including second-degree depraved heart murder, reckless endangerment, and second-degree assault.
Prosecutors stated that Goodson was mainly responsible for Gray’s fatal injuries since he was driving the van, presumably knowing that Gray was shackled, but wasn’t secured by a seatbelt, thus leading his body to be thrown wildly in the vehicle. This news arrives a month after Officer Edward Nero, who was also found not guilty on charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office.
There are still four other officers who still face pending charges for Gray’s death. The next trial date will be July 7 concerning Lt. Brin Rice’s manslaughter charge.
