As the nation continues to mourn the loss of 50 victims in the Orlando Club shooting, and conversations about gun control wages on, outspoken Fox & Friends correspondent Geraldo Rivera has given his two cents on the matter by shaming the victims for not fighting back against shooter Omar Mateen.
“When you’re in that situation and you have no weapons, you have two choices,” 72-year-old Rivera said Monday (June 13) “If you can’t hide, and you can’t run, there are two choices. You stay and die, or you fight. For God’s sakes, fight back! fight back!”
The outspoken talking head then doubled the death toll of the victims by continuing to shame them for not standing up to Mateen, who legally purchased an AR-15 assault rifle.
“There’s a hundred people that he murdered with one weapon that he reloaded,” Rivera said.

According to reports, 29-year-old Mateen scouted out Pulse nightclub, and a Disney shopping complex from June 1 to June 6, which promoted its Gay Days 2016. Investigators say Mateen used a gay dating app and frequented Pulse nightclub several times before the June 12 massacre. Although it’s not been confirmed, authorities aren’t sure if the deadly shooting occurred because Mateen had been radicalized by extremists, or if he struggled with his own sexuality.
Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, sat for an interview and said what his son did was abhorrent, but claims it stems from his anger after seeing two men kissing, not ties to a terrorist organization.
“His act was a terror act, but as far him being a terrorist. I’m not aware of, Mateen said of his son while speaking with CNN’s Don Lemon. “This is the worst thing that can happen for a father to see a son act like this.”
