Gucci Mane stopped by Florida Memorial University Monday (Nov. 7), to perform a short set as well as drop some gems about the importance of young people exercising their rights to vote in today’s election.
“You have an opportunity to make a big impact tomorrow, and not just any young people – young people in this room, young people of color, young people that come from neighborhoods surrounding this college,” Gucci said on stage before a screaming crowd. “We need to make a vote to stop all the police brutality. We need to make a vote to stop this mass incarceration.”
The Woptober rapper also explained how being a convicted felon has stripped him of his right. “I wish that I had my right to vote,” he added. “I feel like after you serve your time, don’t punish me for the rest of my life for something I already served my time for. So ya’ll vote for me.”
T.I, Rick Ross, Angie Martinez, and Power’s Rotimi also appeared at the FMU concert to urge young folks to get out to the polls. Watch Gucci’s short speech below.
