Although much of upstate New York has yet to be tallied, major publications project Hillary Clinton has won the New York Democratic primary. ABC News reports that Clinton leads with 59% of the vote compared to Sen. Bernie Sanders 49%.
Per preliminary exit polls, seven out of 10 New York Democratic voters think Clinton will become the nominee and furthermore believe Clinton has a better chance at beating Trump, who won the GOP primary, in November.
Political insiders predicted Clinton would take New York. The former Secretary of State served as the New York senator for eight years and had been leading in the polls a week before the actual primary.
Thank you, New York. You put your faith in me 16 years ago and again tonight. I’ll never stop fighting for you. -H pic.twitter.com/Tqp8lCYhvq
