Hi everyone – I’m Evan, and I’m Vibe.com’s new Evening Editor.
Today’s my first day, and I’m glad it’s such a nice, boring one.
Oh wait.
So if you’ve been under a rock or in sunny California for the last few days, Hurricane Sandy is currently tearing a path of destruction up the Eastern Seaboard. While I watch my windows buckle from the wind, here’s a roundup of all the relevant links and stories from the first day of the Frankenstorm.
Here at Vibe, we posted about the Disney Cruise Ship that Sandy rocked. Besides that, the HMS Bounty sank off the coast of North Carolina today, and the Coast Guard is still searching for crew members. The boat is a replica of the one from the 1962 movie “Mutiny On The Bounty,” and appeared in some of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
Here in New York, a construction crane on the side of a Midtown Manhattan building snapped in half and is still dangling perilously above the street.
Note: I heard that thing snap, and it was LOUD. If the real storm isn’t even here yet, who knows what kind of damage we’re facing.
The mid-Atlantic and Jersey Shore are heavily flooded already, and much of Atlantic City appears to be underwater.
Also, the pictures you are sharing on Facebook are fake. Don’t get it twisted. If you are actually posting real pictures of the storm, maybe stay off Instagram and get inside for safety. Just a tip.
That’s all for now, we will update if anything else major happens.
