After teasing a possible Super Bowl release last week, it seems that iOS users hoping to get a brand new jailbreak don’t have to wait long.
Those who were hoping to enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday with a jailbroken iPhone whatever, iOS hacker Planetbeing announced yesterday on his Twitter account that his Evad3rs Jailbreak Team that Monday would be the day for the first untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak.
The Evad3rs Jailbreak Team has reportedly been working for months on a jailbreak fr iOS 6.1 using Apple’s developer betas. According to BGR, the group decided to wait for Apple to release the final version of the 6.1.
‘Jailbreaking’ is the process in which locked-down software is opened up to external applications outside the platform’s protective fence. It allows third-party contributors to gain further access to the device’s features, which has spurred on a huge—albeit entirely separate—ecosystem for non-Apple App Store applications.
Whether you think that these apps can increase device functionality, or are just quick rips to break Apple’s strict application ecosystem — the point is that the codes are available.
