While Hollywood gears up for the 88th annual Academy Awards, other entertainment notables have skipped the star-studded affair to attend the free #JusticeForFlint event in Michigan to raise money for those effected by the contaminated water in the area.
Organized by Blackout for Human Rights founder and Creed director Ryan Coogler, along with Selma filmmaker Ava DuVernay, the goal of the event is raise awareness to the almost two year old issue as well as allow members of the Flint community to share their stories.
The event, which is hosted by Comedian Hannibal Buress, will feature performances from Janelle Monae, Vic Mensa, Dej Loaf and more. Donations will be collected at the event and via text.
