A Los Angeles man may be sent to jail for inviting women to dinner and then stiffing them with the bill.
According to reports, Paul Guadalupe Gonzales, 45, met several women on dating sites and then invited them out with the sole intent of getting a free meal. From May 2016 to April 2018, Gonzales set up dates with women in Long Beach, Pasadena, Burbank and L.A. Once at the restaurant, they ordered their meal, ate, had drinks and when the bill came Gonzales, known now as the Dine and Dash Dater, was nowhere to be found.
The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office revealed in a press release, Gonzales, in total is accused of frauding women a total of $950.
One woman said she paid for the date under the guise Gonzales was going to pay her back. Skipping out on the bill, however, isn’t the first time he’s exhibited this type of behavior. Reportedly, he’s not paid for services while at California hair salon as well.
Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest in July and records show he was taken into custody on Aug. 25. Gonzales was charged with seven counts of extortion, two counts of attempted extortion and one count of grand theft. If convicted he could be sentenced to 13 years in prison.
His preliminary hearing in Pasadena is slated for Sept. 7
