A man in Quincy, Ill. was shot in the chest on Friday morning (Jan. 29), and took it better than the average person might. After being released from the hospital for his wound, Devon Hawkins gave an unexpected interview to local news station KHQA following the ordeal. Giving brief details of how the shooting occurred, he said he was shot through the back window of his home. Cool, calm and collected, Hawkins took the incident in stride, calling his injury a “petty wound.”
“You know, I’m in the room chillin’, kickin’ like I usually do, drinking,” he said. “Then someone shot right through my back window and hit me in the chest. I’m like s**t. Get my son out of the room. I wasn’t even trippin’ over it, it’s like a petty wound. I ain’t trippin’ though.”
Hawkins was questioned about what the motive behind the shooting may have been, and remained equally nonchalant while sharing that someone may want him dead.
“I don’t know what’s going on, I just know n***s probably just want me dead on some other stuff.”
According to KHQA, there is was suspect in the custody at the time of their report. Watch Devon Hawkins discuss being shot in the chest in the video below:
